On Christmas day, the crave for a good meal came about and Littlepeople was suggested by Ezel so off we went.
Littlepeople, a quaint cafe tucked under Avantas Residences on Old Klang Road specializes in fresh pasta and is also the home of Little Rabbit Soft Serve, the soft serve ice cream bar made famous by their Harry Potter-inspired butterbeer soft serve.
Coffee (and tea) is a big deal at Littlepeople with new beans being introduced often and workshops conducted to educate the general public about coffee from the farm to the roaster up to the brewer. Coffee is serious business here!
I enjoyed the latte that day. The flavor wasn't dull or boring, it was a pleasant cup, to say the least.
A small selection of tea is available if coffee isn't your cup of tea (woops!) - the hojicha cold brew sounds interesting for a tea that I usually have hot.
The fresh pasta was definitely the highlight of the visit - the springiness is a quality that only occurs in fresh pasta and the tagliatelle definitely did its job to cling to all the saucy arrabiata. The arrabiata sauce had a nice consistency but was a bit mild for me and could've been better seasoned. The seafood was fresh and there was a rather generous portion of it.
I have a great dislike for basil and by extension, pesto especially if it tastes of only blended basil and nothing else. Littlepeople is by far the only place I've tried with pesto that doesn't only taste of basil (finally!). I must say it was a pleasant surprise to get a lovely balance of fresh green and nutty but I still wouldn't order pesto for myself.
Littlepeople's desserts are supplied by Dreamz Bakery and they seem to be good as everything had ran out except for the cheesecake that day. The cake had a really nice consistency - dense at the fork but light in your mouth, it doesn't leave you feeling jelak even after a heavy meal. If the cheesecake is anything to go by, I'd expect the rest of the desserts to be just as good.
With the combination of good coffee, excellent fresh pasta and a tantalizing array of desserts, Littlepeople has elevated the cafe experience with just food and drink done well.
